Sweta Keswani and Alex O’Neil are married. And that too twice over! The couple had been seeing each other since the last four years and has now finally settled down.
But what is interesting is that Sweta and Alex have decided to get married in four different styles: - a court marriage, a Buddhist marriage, a Hindu marriage and a white wedding. The court marriage was solemnised on October 21. The Buddhist style wedding was also scheduled to take place on the same day but due to Raj Thakeray’s arrest the Buddhist style wedding had to be postponed to the next day. The Hindu style wedding will be held on November 11 in Mumbai whereas the Christian style wedding will be held on November 14 in Goa. The couple will be going to Egypt for their honeymoon.
Sweta was keen on a Buddhist and Hindu wedding as she follows these two faiths. Alex is a Christian, so there is also a Christian wedding. Court marriage is for the documentation of their marriage.
Theirs is a cross culture marriage where Sweta is a Hindu and Alex is half Dutch and half American. We asked Sweta if there was any apprehension from her family about her alliance with Alex. She replied, “We decided to get married last year. Initially when we started seeing each other, my parents were a bit apprehensive as he comes from a different culture altogether but once they realised that I was sure about him, they couldn’t say no to our relationship and our marriage.”
She further adds, “I am really excited and exhausted at the same time. I have been extremely busy shooting for Ba Bahu Aur Baby and doing the wedding preparations. Relatives from all over the world are pouring in. I have to take Alex’s relatives for shopping as they don’t know much about India. Padmini who choreographed our dance in Nach Baliye 3 is also choreographing a dance for our wedding. This is her wedding gift to us.” Their jodi came into limelight after they participated in the reality dance show Nach Baliye 3.
Getting married? A checklist! (Must Read)
We asked Alex what his wedding gift to Sweta was, he quipped, “I will be gifting a beautiful diamond ring to her.” Talking about the four different wedding styles, he says, “I am tired and exhausted as there was so much to do with four different styles of wedding. I would advise all those who want to get married similarly to start preparing for your wedding one month in advance.”
Friends tell us why Shweta & Alex make a great pair
After dating each other for close to four years, Shweta Keswani and Alex O’Neil tied the knot in a hush hush wedding at Laxmi Narayan Mandir in Khar. The list of invitees included Sakshi Tanwar, Ali Asgar, Kiran Karmarkar and his wife Rinku, Madhuri Bhatia, J D Majethia and Aatish Kapadia with their families, Pooja Bedi & Hanif Hilal, Karan Grover & Karan Oberoi, Deven Bhujani, Amita Chandekar, Rajesh Kumar, Shibani Kashyap & Munisha Khatwani, Nikhil Arya.
While we think the two look adorable together, we ask some of their closest friends what they think about Shweta and Alex as a couple.
Shweta & Alex were romantically involved with each other for the last two years and now finally they've got married. I am very happy for them as I think they are perfectly suited to each other. Pooja has gifted the couple a marvellous bronze statue of Buddha.
East meets West this is what Rajesh has to say about them as a couple. Rajesh gave a beautiful bouquet to the love-birds on their wedding, he says "Gifts were strictly restricted in the wedding. I did take the gift along with me but unfortunately had to get it back home!"
Tarot reader Munisha Khatwani says although she doesn't have the birth dates of the newly wed but she surely knows one thing that their future is very bright and positive. "They both compliment each other really well. I must say that Alex has adjusted very well to the Hindu traditions.”
Nikhil informs that he has known Shweta for a long time as she has been his neighbour on two occasions. Like others, he too holds a similar opinion, "Both are opposite in many ways, but still they are together! This explains that what they mean to each other. They are made for each other!" he says.
