It has been five months now since Nikhil Arya and his wife Neha Chabbria separated and Nikhil says he's moved on. “I’ve many new things now and I am looking forward for other new and positive things," says Nikhil (Rudra in Star Plus's Kesar).
“It had been really terrible” says Nikhil of the process of separation, “This phase is the worst in anyone’s life”.
Nikhil’s and Neha’s families knew each other and the duo decided they were in love two and a half years back. Considering that it was a love-cum-arranged marriage, what exactly went wrong between them?
“It was perhaps the incompatibility, lack of mutual understanding and differences in the thinking which couldn’t work for us” he said.
“There are times when situations start deteriorating… it is then wiser to call the relationship off” says the actor although he feels they tried their best to work on the bitterness of their relationship. “We went through all the notions but things kept worsening” says the actor.
Inevitability has settled in over the last months now and they are heading towards divorce. "It's an ongoing process," says Nikhil. He says that what happened "very amicable and mutual".
Their families supported them. “My family believes that destiny plays an important role. They’ve realized that some mistakes have occurred” says Arya.
What he has learnt from this relationship?
Nikhil says he's not at all convinced with the idea of arranged marriages and feels that they are flawed. He says “Marriage is supposed to be union of two souls solely and not two families; both the individuals involved should be mature and strong. Arranged marriages shouldn’t exist at all!”
