Chetan and Lavinia's magical act on Alladin in Nach Baliye

Chetan and Lavinia's magical act on Alladin made their son Ethen very happy. Seeing the kid on stage, Karisma got reminded of her daughter...

Jodi No. 13 Chetan Hansraj and Lavinia created magic on stage as they narrated the tale of Alladin and Jinn on the number ‘It’s Magic’ for this week’s theme on ‘Bachpan’.

A source from the sets tells us, “Their act was filled with magic, and it was a delight to watch. But the one who was immensely thrilled after their performance was Chetan and Lavinia’s son, Ethen”.

“The couple dedicated their act to their little son, and when he was brought on stage to ask whether he liked his parents’ act, he gave them a 10 from his side”, adds our source.

Seeing this cute scene, Karisma got reminded of her daughter who is of the same age and got very emotional. “It was very cute of Karisma when she said Ethen reminded her of her kid”, says the proud father, Chetan.

Ask Chetan about their magical act, and he quips, “It was a great experience and we had a blast. The best thing was that our son liked it. For more, you need to watch the act”.

Well, the kids’ special in Nach Baliye is sure to take the audience down the memory lane…

Sachin turns judge for Chhote Miyan

After judging a Marathi dance reality on Zee Marathi, Sachin Pilgaonkar is now back as a judge on a laughter show called Chhote Miyan. He will be seen judging the show with one of the Big Boss housemates Rahul Mahajan.

"Kids have always been my weakness. Till now we've had shows where we have seen kids singing and dancing but we haven't seen them doing comedy. I am glad that with the help of this show another talent of theirs will also be displayed,” explains Pilgaonkar.

Considering the fact that Sachin gets on well with most kids and shares a great rapport with them, judging them won’t be a problem for the actor.

"Bachchon ko kabhi chhota nahi samajhna chahiye. The degree of maturity and sensibility they have is simply hard to believe. While judging these kids, one has to be very careful on showing them the right direction and encouraging them at the same time. After all, child is the father of the man,” he says.

"Both of us (Rahul & I) love kids. We play with them and never make them feel uncomfortable. Becoming a stand up comedian at such a small age itself is credible; we will get to learn a lot from these children" appreciates the mentor.

And how has the interaction been with his co-judge Rahul Mahajan?

"Rahul is fun to be with. We both have fun with the kids. Innki hasi toh sabse zaada famous hai. After one of the performances, our audience co-ordinator told Rahul to laugh; Rahul immediately refused saying ki mujhe hasi nahi aa rahi hai toh kyun hasu? This is called reality. Reality shows mein aise reality ki zaroorat hai," says an impressed Sachin.

Chhote Miyan will have 13 hilarious and talented kids from different parts of the country who will entertain the viewers with their stand up acts and jokes. The show will be hosted by Juhi Parmar and the famous comedian Kapil Sharma.

Chhote Miyan will air from this Saturday at 9 pm on Colors.

Farah turns chat show host 'Oh Farah!' Full Details

Talkative, talented and funny – those are just some of the ways of describing director Farah Khan. And it now looks like Farah is using all of those traits to host a chat show on Star Plus called 'Oh Farah!'.

"It is based on the lines of Oprah Winfrey and Ellen Degeneres but on a lighter note. The show will go on air early next year," says Farah who is currently one of the judges on Nach Baliye 4 with Karisma Kapoor and Arjun Rampal.

"The show is nothing like Koffee with Karan or Sajid's Superstars where stars discuss their lives and films," explains Farah.

So what topics will she cover?

"We will talk about anything and everything under the sun, steering clear of politics and religion. Common people will come on the show to discuss the topics and celebs will come only if they are related to the topic concerned. So we will not have a special show for them, their presence will be determined by the topic," says Farah who is known for her fantastic sense of humour.

On the Bollywood front, Farah has retired from choreography but still makes exceptions for her friends. "I did Desi Girl because I had promised Tarun to choreograph for his film when we working on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai," says the ace choreographer who has also choreographed a song in Billoo Barber for best buddy SRK.

Nach Baliye maybe keeping her busy but that hasn’t stopped the mumma of three tiny tots all under the age of one from starting work on the script of her new film, Happy New Year.

"My husband Shirish and I have just begun writing the script of Happy New Year,” is all she is ready to say right now.

Uttaran Review (First Week Report)

Let's see what the new show on COLORS, Uttaran has to offer to the viewers...

Uttaran, the latest offering from COLORS is another show centered around a child and her journey in this hard and cruel world. The show reminds you of Malgudi days where sets are not made to look nice and beautiful, but realistic. You can also feel the influence of movies such as TZP, and Blue Umbrella too when you see Ichcha running with her pink umbrella. They have paid attention to every minute detail possible, from Ichcha’s slippers to her clothes and the title song lyrics too which goes as..

Nanhe nanhe se hathon main gudiya purani..

Kismat toh jais inke koi ruthi nani..

Kiska ka sapna hai jeevan kiska jeevan hai uttran..

Kiske ke utare sapnon se saje kiska bachpan..

Woh nahin samjhe abhi kya hoti hai uttran

A renaissance in television shows and viewing!

Story: Uttaran is the story of a girl named Ichcha who is born in the slums of Mumbai and desires much more than what her destiny has in store for her. Ichcha has big dreams and aspirations – to fulfill these and to provide her with a better livelihood, her mother takes up a job of a maid at a rich household. What awaits her there is for us to see and experience.

Actors: All the actors involved are doing a great job as they suit their roles to the T. Iccha the girl is very sweet and an actor far more matured than her age, and does everything very diligently. Well, one could see the influence of Darsheel Safari of Taare Zameen Par while selecting Ichcha. The fabuolus dialogue delivery of the girl can give any seasoned TV actor a run for their money. All the kids are doing their job fantastically well. There is a very thin line between commercial success and creative satisfaction. This show is a fine example as how to maintain the equilibrium and then ride on the success .Vaishali Thakkar in the role of Damini is doing her part marvelously well too. The pain in her eyes to meet up with her daughter's demands is vividly seen in her eyes. They both want to make their kismat or destiny in this world with innocence and hard work.

Writers and Creatives are very smart and intelligent. They know now that the audience wants something different and they are capitalizing on this. After the saas bahu sagas and the never-ending reality shows, Uttaran is going to set a new bench mark and new heights to conquer.

Set and Ambience: Fabulous is the word for everything associated with this show, from the small hut of Ichcha and her mother to the wire which they use to lock, the bed pillow cover with patch over it etc. Sewing machine and the other little things found in the house seem very realisitic. However, there is a small confusion about the exterior of Jogi Thakur hawali, as it looks different from one angle and could confuse audience. The traffic light is nice as well, so as the Slum where they live.

The background score is great too and not to forget the ever complimenting dialogues. Everything is of high standard in this show and this will be an example which people will follow if they want to venture out in same genre .They have a Herculean task to better this show and its creative genius.

We just wish that makers show Ichcha and her aspirations coming true. Then it will give a new hope to the underprivileged and deprived strata of our society too...

Mohit Malik and Addite Shirwakar evicted from Nach Baliye

The couple has been eliminated and their fans are in a state of shock. Jodi no 6 of Nach Baliye 4, Mohit Malik and Addite Shirwakar got a bolt from the blue, when their name was announced in the elimination round.

This came as a shock, since they were doing quite well all this while and no one expected that their journey in the show would end so soon. Being non-dancers, both Addite and Mohit gave their best and their hard work and dedication was acknowledged by the judges. Regardless of a serious knee injury, Addite continued working hard to master the dance moves.

Savita and Jaspal Bhatti evicted from Nach Baliye ...

Apparently the couple is getting a lot of e-mails from all over, re-confirming whether this is for real or simply hearsay! Surely it's very touching for the couple to receive such thoughtful mails. The couple faced Mouli Ganguly and Mazher Syed in the danger zone and were eliminated due to lack of votes.

Hoping to see this lovely couple together again in some other reality show

Monica and Rahul snub Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 3

Offers from television and films are pouring in for Monica Bedi and Rahul Mahajan after Bigg Boss 2. Recently, they were even approached to participate in the new season of the famous dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa . But both snubbed Jhalak…in favour of other reality shows.

A well placed source informs, “Rahul and Monica were approached to participate in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa but both did not agree to do the show. Monica was contemplating on taking it up. But she had a film and another reality show in her kitty that did not leave her with sufficient dates to do this show.”

Monica says, “Jhalak Dikhla Jaa is one of the best shows we have on television. I would have loved to be a part of it. I am grateful to Sony channel for approaching me. I had already committed myself to a film and a reality show. I tried to tackle my dates for the show but it did not work out.”

Stating his reason for snubbing Jhalak..., Rahul said, “I am judging Chote Miya on Colors. I was not comfortable participating in one reality show when I am judging another reality show at the same time. I was a participant in Bigg Boss 2 as well. Now I want to move on from being a mere participant. Also, I am more of a comedy person than a dance person so I preferred to judge a comedy show. How could I participate in Jhalak... when I have no clue about dancing? Sometimes, you have to make choices in life.”

It’s about time you made your choice Rahul!

Top 3 finalists of Voice of India 2

After a five month fierce battle for the coveted title of VOI, the show has reached its final stage and has got its three finalists. This week viewers will witness the elimination of Mallar Karmakar.

According to a source present on the sets, “Mallar was eliminated from the show as a result of the lack of votes for him. It is to be remembered that Mallar was re-called to the show as the wild card entry along with Zakir and Vipul Mehta at the judges’ insistence. This time round Mallar, Ravi Shukla and Saptaparna Chakraborthy were in the danger zone and Mallar was finally evicted.”

Mallar who had impressed the judges with his talent has a medical problem. As a child he had a fall and suffered a nerve hemorrhage. After that he underwent treatment for 12 years only to discover that this ailment was incurable. Till date he suffers from nausea, dizziness and headaches. His passion towards music has kept him going. There have been times before his performance when he has suffered unbearable headaches. But his dedication helped him surmount all his physical pain. His eviction understandably upset the judges.

With Mallar’s eviction the final tussle will now be between Vipul Mehta, Ravi Shukla and Saptaparna.

Kashif, Shakeel all other Pakistan TV actors had left the country soon after the terror attacks

The terror attack in Mumbai has yet again strained relations between India and Pakistan thereby causing panic between its civilians. Feeling this heat are the Pakistani artistes working in India who have now decided to head home. Though reports confirm that adequate steps have been taken by the Mumbai police to ensure the safety of these artists.

Yasir Shah

Pakistan actor Yasir Shah, who has figured in shows like Khwaish and Jiya Jale, will be leaving the country in the coming weeks. “It’s very unfortunate that I had to leave this country like this. I was in talks with few producers for couple of shows but it looks unlikely that I’ll be able to take them. I’ll be leaving for Karachi in a week or two. I hope to return by March provided the tension between our the two countries eases.”

One show that is most affected with the current crisis is Sony’s Kaante Ki Takkar. The contest had come down to its final four pairs. Ali Asgar his Pakistani partner Kashif Khan, Urvashi and Pakistan’s Shakeel, representing the ‘Purans’ were to compete against ‘Sumans’ Sudesh Lahiri-Krushna Abhishek, Kamya Punjabi and Rajeev Thakur. However, Shakeel and Kashif had to leave the country in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attack.

Ali Asgar with Kashif Khan

When contacted Ali Asgar said, “Kashif and Shakeel had left the country soon after the terror attacks. We were supposed to shoot for the final episode but everything has now gone haywire. We haven’t received any information from the channel or the production regarding further shoot. We’re hoping to have Ali and Shakeel back so that the final episode can be completed.”

When contacted, Sony business head Albert Almeida said, “At the moment we can only wait and watch. Beyond this we cannot do anything. We do have a bank of episodes for Kaante Ki Takkar. We’re hoping by then the situation will normalise.”

Shakeel

Last month, tellychakkar had reported on a new show Shakeel made in China that was to follow Kaante Ki Takkar. Since there’s a question mark over Shakeel’s availability, there were concerns that the show might be scrapped. Albert though allayed any such fear. “The show was never solely about Shakeel. Plus, it was never named as Shakeel made in China. Just like the other artistes Shakeel was going to be one of the performers. That show is very much on and it’s unfortunate that our Pakistani artistes won’t be part of it.”

Laughter Knights on Star One is another show that will not be featuring any Pakistani artistes. Director Pankaj Saraswat says, “We were keen on having few Pakistani artistes. Prominent among them were going to be the legendary Umer Sharif, Rauf Lala, Ali Hassan and Irfan Malik. However, most of these artists had left home during the strike itself. Post this terror attack, we’ve decided against calling any of them.”

Zaheer Abbas

Another show that will be least affected is Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009. Zaheer Abbas was the lone Pakistani contender remaining in the competition. However, he too had to flee to Pakistan. “Zaheer had a visa of 60 days but he had to rush home this week. We would want him to return next week provided the situation eases. We didn’t want any risk to his security thus we deemed it better to send him back home,’ says our source from the sets.

Well, not all Pakistani feel safe in their homeland. Karachi’s Kashif Khan doesn’t think so. So says Kashif’s Indian partner Ali Asgar. “Kashif hails from Karachi but he himself has told me that he considers India a safer place than his hometown. He’d mentioned to me that the situation in Karachi is such that one doesn’t know whether the person next to you could be a suicide bomber.”

Going by the series of terror attacks in our country, one can assume both India and Pakistan are sailing in the same boat.
