Meri Maa' on Life Ok is the story of Jhilmil, a street kid, who is on a mission to look for her real mother. The story revolves around the tryst that Jhilmil has to undergo just to survive alone; and how Pratibha, her mother, faces depression and social stigma for losing her daughter at a local event. The show leads on into how Jhilmil meets different people, some kind and some hurtful, towards her in her journey to locate her real mother while Pratibha too never stops looking for her missing child. Meri Maa on
Life Ok (revamped Star One). The show is the remake of the Bengali show Maa currently running on Star Jalsa. There will be some minor changes and innovations. The show instills a heart-wrenching story of a young girl's hunt for her mother and her own identity. And simultaneously, her real mother is in search of her. The original show had a very good run with a TRP as high as 11, have recently shot a pilot for the Hindi show. Sayantani Ghosh and Jatin Shah were part of the pilot that was shot.
The show had taken a backseat for quite sometime and did not generate any buzz but now the show has geared up to go on floors. As the show got shifted to Life Ok from Star Plus, it took time to go on floors though the show was ready with a locked cast.

Avneet Kaur happens to be the same girl who debuted as participant in Zee TV's Dance India Dance L'il Masters. She was in the Dhoom Dhadake team which was mentored by Mayuresh and Vrushali.
The serial has gained so much popularity amongst the audience in Bengal that production house thought of making it in Hindi too.The Hindi version of "Maa" will be directed by Punit Gandhi and none of the original cast will be included in the hindi remake, not even Tithi Bose who plays Jhilik.
