Gurmeet opines that "for success or failure of a show, you cannot blame only the characters"

Gurmeet Choudhary and Kratika Sengar

Zee TV’s re-marriage saga Punar Vivah (produced by Shashi Summet Mittal Productions Pvt Ltd) starring Gurmeet Choudhary and Kratika Sengar has not really set the TRP meters on fire (2.2 GRPs). There’s a lot of buzz that the youth audience has not been able to relate to Gurmeet’s new docile character as they are still hung up on his flamboyant Geet image. However, when we spoke to Gurmeet about the same, this is what he had to say, “For success or failure of a show, you cannot blame only the characters. Punar Vivah is only a month old and any new show takes around three months or more to really pick up. First one to two months are spent only to establish the storyline and various characters and that amount of time is necessary to develop a connect with the masses. One month is simply not enough to discuss such issues.”

This television heartthrob further went on to state, “All my old shows like Ramayan and Geet, amongst others, had also taken two-three months to get accepted. Punar Vivah is a new show and also a new concept. Then our time band is pitched against very established shows and it will definitely take time to woo the audience towards us. Any actor cannot be held responsible to character’s acceptance and rejection. It is the story and other factors also that come into equal play. In fact, I have personally received good comments from my fans on portrayal of YasLinkh.”

Well, Gurmeet, we hope that your show picks up in the coming days. All the best!!!
