Woman like Amrit does exist in society, states producer of Amrit Manthan, Rajan Shahi

Producer Rajan Shahi (Director’s Kut) is quite upbeat about his new Life OK drama, Amrit Manthan. “I am getting a lot of positive feedback from the audiences about this show of two royal sisters Amrit (Adaa Khan) and Nimrit (Dimple Jhangiani),” says the ace producer.

He continues, “Amrit is a today’s girl who does not mind resorting to underhanded tactics to fulfill her and her family’s financial needs. She goes to the extent of seducing a man who she knows is impotent and demands 25 crores to marry him.”

Rajan justifies this behavior of Amrit saying, “Who are we to judge? Such woman does exist in society and what is wrong if Amrit does such planning? What is arranged married? Are not other factors beyond love, like financial status, taken into consideration there as well.”

Furthermore, the man – who has produced super popular shows like Bidaai and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai – agrees that he has taken a big risk by portraying the lead girl in a different avtar. “I could have played the safer TRP zone by showing the lead girl working in the kitchen. But now I am a creative producer and want to push the envelope as I have also done with Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (Sony Entertainment Television).”

He further states that the audience is also slowing accepting the concept as “while they may not condone sleeping around before marriage, they do empathize with Amrit’s modern thinking.”

“I am also quite pleased to work with Life OK which is ready to accept a modern protagonist. Most channels still shy away from such experiments,” Rajan ends.
