Aashka Goradia is not uncomfortable playing a bold character in Shubh Vivah

UTV’s Shubh Vivah aired on Sony Entertainment Television is all set to witness the marriage of Amrit (Eijaz Khan) and Saroj (Neha Janpandit). However, the only threat to their marriage is Sarla with whom Amrit is having a physical relationship. “Amrit is having a no strings attached physical relationship with my character Sarla. The real drama will happen when Sarla’s husband, Madan, who had left her to work in the Gulf, will return,” reveals Aashka Goradia. But what will happen between Sarla-Amit and Sarla-Madan? Here Aashka informs that her character will make an exit from the show after the above drama happens in the next two months. “I always knew this was a cameo for there is not much for my character to do after her husband returns and her relationship with Amrit is exposed.”

Aashka who was last seen as Kalavati in Colors’ show Laagi Tujhse Lagan, admits her character is quite bold by Indian standards, “Sarla has physical needs which Amrit fulfils. However, she is very clear in her mind that she will not dump her husband for him. She further tells Amrit that he can go ahead and get married to Saroj and this will not affect their relationship.”

Talking about women in real life who go outside the wedlock for physical intimacy, Aashka says “Nobody does this intentionally. Such things happen due to circumstances. But yes they do have serious implications like what will happen in my character’s case. Our show attempts to question the big hypocrisy prevalent in the society. If a man goes for a long tour and he has fun on the sly, society will not call him names and in most cases the wife will eventually forgive him. But will a husband forgive his wife’s similar transgressions and will society accept such a woman?”

The show has a lot of romantic scenes between Aashka and Eijaz. Do such scenes make this beautiful actress uncomfortable? “I have known him for a very long time and hence there is a certain amount of comfort level between the two of us. Moreover, I regard him as brother like. We just do those scenes in a fun way. He is a thorough gentleman. In fact, before romantic scenes, he keeps saying Ashu (that’s what he calls me) I am sorry; I will now have to look at you from top to toe, please don’t mind. I am glad to have a co star who is not having fun at my expense but is doing everything to make sure that my comfort level is not breached,” she beams.

The media has been full of reports that Eijaz is not happy the way his character is shaping up; Aashka however, dismisses these reports. “We are just 20 episodes old so it can’t be true for the characters are still opening up.”

As far as her own character is concerned, she is quite confident that she will get her due screen space in this show. “My character is such that it will be noticed,” ends Aashka.
