If sources are to be believed, the long-running afternoon show on Star Plus might go off air in the next year...
Star Plus seems to be on a roll, ending some of its popular shows. With television’s two biggest daily soaps drawing to an end, and with news that Kasturi and Kayamath might see its end in the coming year, the buzz now is that the channel’s long-running afternoon show Kumkum, Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan is getting set to bid adieu as the new year rolls in.
Giving us info is our well-placed source, “The show in all probability will go off air by the end of January or by February. There have been issues regarding the payment of wages which might be one of the reasons for the show ending”.
However, the lead actor, Hussain, when contacted says, “Well, there have been rumors that the show might go off air for quite some time now. But that is something that the channel and creatives have to decide. As far as my knowledge goes, the show is not going off air.” When asked about the payment problem, he quips, “Such issues happen everywhere. But I have never faced any problem though.”
Kajal Shah, Creative Head of the show was equally surprised when asked if the show was going off air as she says, “Is it? I really have no idea if it is.”
A reliable source from the production house however confirmed the news saying, “The problem regarding the pay packets has been going on for a very long time, but now water has gone beyond the neck.”
We tried contacting Rajesh Chaddha, Supervising Producer, BAG Films, but he remained unavailable for comment.
So is the show going off air or not? Now that is one question that still remains unanswered!!
