Chote Miya, a first of its kind reality show that will see children doing stand-up comedy. It sounds like a dream. However, unfolding this dream into an absolute reality is proving to be a difficult task for the show’s organisers.
If sources are to be believed, then both the production house (Endemol India) and the channel (Colors) are having a tough time in scouting for real talent.
A source close to the production says, “Having such a show is an innovative concept but the therein lies the trouble. Getting kids, between the age group of 6-14 for an arduous craft like stand-up comedy is proving to be a quite a task. After all, stand-up comedy is no child’s play. Auditions are being held across various cities but so far there is a serous crunch in talent.”
Well, it seems that the current TV crisis has come at the right time for Colors and Endemol India. “The strike is in someway turning out to be a blessing in disguise for the channel and the production house. It gives them more time to scout for talent. The real trouble though is that children aren’t really cut for such a craft. The adults struggle with scripts so how can you expect a little child to master such craft?” our source added.
Well, all we can say is that it’s only time that will decide whether these tiny tots succeed in amusing the viewers. One good thing for them is that their superiors aren’t amusing anymore, so these kids will at least bring a smile with their innocence.
