Betting in Bigg Boss, 80 crore is riding on Rahul

Report: Rahul favourite to win

A report has claimed that bookies are picking Rahul Mahajan to be the winner of Bigg Boss.

"According to rough estimates... at least Rs 80 crore is riding on Rahul," IANS reported.

Six people remain as inmates on the reality TV show. Rahul is the son of Pramod Mahajan, the late BJP leader.

The show began in August and approaches conclusion in coming weeks.

Rahul's closest contender is model-turned-actor Zulfi Sayed. Zulfi had Rs 60 crore bet on him as the survivor, the report claimed. Raja Chaudhary, whose shot to fame with his separation from television star Shweta Tiwari, shares space with Ashutosh Kaushik, winner of the "MTV Roadies" show, with Rs.20 crore each bet on them, the report added.

Former Miss Universe Diana Hayden is seen as the lame duck in the race with "hardly any punters favouring her." But Monica Bedi, former starlet and ex-girlfriend of underworld mobster Abu Salem, "has a slim chance."

Monica was eliminated once but returned to the house after an innovation. Participants in the show are shown living inside the "Bigg Boss" house, totally cut off from the world outside. House inmates are routinely evicted as per an audience poll. The person who remains till the end is proclaimed the winner.

"We believe Rahul's political background and controversial past have earned him a lot of publicity," the report quotes a bookie as saying. "The way he has survived five eviction nominations has actually forced people to think that he will not lose because of some backing from outside."

The show also has Shilpa Shetty as its host. Shilpa won Big Brother in UK last year, rocketing to celebrity in that country, but her celebrity status has waned considerably since then and it did nothing to improve her changes in Bollywood.
