It’s premature end for Ajeeb | ||
The current crisis facing the TV industry has resulted in an untimely end for 9X’s weekend show Ajeeb. This Bonnie Jain production, which was to run for 24 episodes, couldn’t complete it’s tenure as the shoot was halted due to the strike, first called by FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) and then by the Producer’s Guild. Ajeeb’s producer Bonnie Jain says, “Due to the current strike we haven’t been able to shoot for our show. Currently, all GECs are showing only two hours of fresh programming which cover the daily shows. Since Ajeeb is a weekend show we couldn’t shoot for it. I can’t remember now how many episodes are remaining to be shot. Presently, we are showing the repeat telecast.” But once the strike is over won’t you shoot the pending episodes? “Yes we’d like to but for that too we need the crisis to come to an end. However, with the broadcasters too threatening to strike, we could be in for a long haul.” Meanwhile, actor Vishal Wathwani, who played one of the doctors, doesn’t sound optimistic on the resumption of the shoot. “From what I’ve learnt is that the show has been pulled off air. I reckon we’d shot for 22 episodes but the remaining episodes won’t be shot. Shifting our show to a weekend slot didn’t work in our favour. After all, how will you get the TRPs when you’re pitted against the top reality shows?” Officials from 9X remained unavailable for comment. |
