Disney Channel, the number three kids channel, has engaged young talent in an interschool group dance competition across India. In its third season, the My School Rocks competition gives kids a opportunity to express themselves through dance and music.
The competition draws inspiration from Disney Channel original movie Camp Rock, which encourages kids by asserting them that everyone has a star talent within themselves which they need to explore. The winners will feature in a music video to be choreographed by Shiamak Davar, who also judges this competition.
Antoine Villeneuve, senior vice-president and managing director, Walt Disney Television International (India), said, "Camp Rock incorporates two big themes that are a part of our content strategy that attract and engage kids - music and dance. This initiative provides kids a opportunity to discover their talents and celebrate teamwork."
Shiamak Davar said, "I am excited to team up with Disney Channel in this talent search for the second time. Last year, it was a perfect combination of fun and learning experiences. I am eager to go back to schools to witness the talent pool across India."
Starting October 20, the channel is touring schools across Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Ludhiana and Lucknow to host school relationship programmes to invite participating teams. This year, the competition will reach out to over five lakh kids through this school programme
